3 reasons the construction industry needs video

We moved on from video being predominantly used within TV advertising a fair few years ago, but some industries haven't kept up! Many brands across a range of sectors now use video in their marketing but from our experience, we saw that the construction industry wasn’t keeping up, but we know why.

This may seem counterintuitive for a video production company to say but: Not all video marketing works for everyone.

It all depends on how you use it. Putting awesome social media content out definitely doesn’t hurt, so keep doing it. What we would like to talk about is how video can not only be used to shout about your business but also help you in winning work, to stand out from the competition and take you to the next level.

So, without further ado, here are three types of video and why they are so valuable to the construction industry:

Company overview video: Ok, not the most catchy name but very effective. When you go to tender you are fighting against a lot of competition. Your portfolio speaks for itself, but after looking at what feels like the same document over and over again, people tend to miss important information just through being… well, bored.

Watching a 2-minute video about your company says more than pages of text or even the greatest PowerPoint ever could. Seeing proof of what you are claiming makes people trust you and the better your video is, the more professional you seem and the more engaged they will be. They see you are a company to be trusted and that you take pride in every job you do.

Testimonial videos: Testimonials are great, we all need them and they certainly make a difference when it comes to people picking you over the competition. However, most companies have testimonials and reading them over and over again gets very dull. Replace that with a video testimonial takes that engagement level up to 11.

If a client is willing to stand in front of a camera and talk about their experience with your company, it is not just more interesting to view but it also provides a far more trustworthy source. Using an interview with supporting footage of that very project is even better!

Health & safety and training videos: These videos may not help wow your future clients, however making sure they know that you take health & safety seriously is always a benefit.

Pro tip: It also becomes a financial benefit when it comes to insurance.

Health & Safety can be a pain, particularly in construction when sites and personnel change regularly but no fear - video could hold the answers to a painless health & safety process. If your rules stay the same on every project, reusing the same health & safety video is a great way to maintain consistency throughout. With video, you can rest assured that every member of staff coming onto the site is clear on the rules. Having this readily available will save you time and money on every site you work on.

When a contractor is professional across the board, it makes the buyer feel confident and relaxed that you have everything covered.

So, there is the trilogy of videos that can help you in your tender bids. For more information take a look at our blog on the different types of video production or give us an email or call.
